Ceramics Congress

The Bi-Annual Ceramic Congress - run by the Ceramic School includes workshops by over 30 ceramists from around the globe.

This year I am one of them.

I am online from 6:00 pm till 8:30 pm on Sunday 29th .

Held online over the 3 days from the 27th to the 29th of November.

I will be explaining how to create my wafer thin translucent porcelain vessels, shown below.

These are ideal to be both viewed in daylight and are wonderful when back lit or internally lit. A battery powered LED strip light with a remote control is ideal.

Porcelain Vessels

These unique vessels are formed from layers of thin porcelain and fired to over 1,200 degrees centigrade and they range from tiny sake cups/ egg cups through to large decorative vessels.

Made by my unique process of creating layers of ultra thin porcelain by painting coloured liquid porcelain onto a canvas, then adding textures and scrapping back layers to get the desired surface. Stains and oxides mixed with the porcelain give the colours and glazes are sometimes added at the end.
The canvas is made into vessels and some are glazed and then once fired in the kiln.

They are available in a wide range of sizes - from very small "Sake Cups" and small "Dinky Doos" through to Tall and very Large vessels.
