Stoneware

I use stoneware clays because the glazes are more natural, matt and earthy toned. I usually use these in Autumn time when I'm inspired by the Autumnal colours and hues outside. The buttery glazes are low fired stoneware and are hand painted onto my pots. The other glazes are dipping glazes which allows for different techniques which produces overlaps and drips in the glaze work.

I like throwing thin stoneware pieces as the curves are challenging when I turn them, which is my favourite part of the whole process. My stoneware pieces are light and delicate to handle and the rims are nicely rounded, encouraging the eye to look inwards.
